At our recent Truffles and Ruffles networking lunch, we had the joy of styling the table with the most beautiful pieces from Moroccan White. Their soulful, handmade wares - from intricate ceramics to timeless textiles - sat perfectly alongside the elegant linens from Twizzell England, creating a table that felt layered, authentic, and full of story.
It was such a fabulous collaboration, bringing together two brands who share a love of craftsmanship and detail. To celebrate, we sat down with Moroccan White to learn more about their journey, their artisans, and the inspiration behind their collections.
1. What inspired you to start Moroccan White?
The desire to bring unique and beautiful handmade homewares I saw on my travels in Morocco to an English audience bored with mass produced and charmless goods.
2. Can you tell us a bit about the artisans you work with and how you source your pieces?
The artisans I have met are truly humble and amazing people. Hard working and so talented and living in some of the most beautiful mountainous countryside in the world. Largely, they are made up of the indigenous Berber population of Morocco. I source my pieces by walking, talking, and travelling and then curating the most beautiful pieces. Not all artisan is created equal, so therefore one must spend a lot of time to find the most truly beautiful pieces.
3. What does craftsmanship mean to you?
Passion and skill and love and organic matter all being brought to life in the form of something beautiful and enduring and sustainable.
4. Do you have a favourite piece or collection? What’s the story behind it?
My favourite discovery is the wonderful Kilim rugs from Taznact woven by women deep in the south of Morocco, nearly 40km from the nearest main road, high in the mid Atlas Mountains. I had the pleasure of staying in a village named Tazoulte for a week (next door to Taznact) and in the midst of the saffron growing region of Morocco. Here the weavers use locally sourced poppy flowers, saffron and henna and indigo to colour their stunning abstract colourful Kilim rugs, also known as ‘Moroccan Picasso’ rugs. Each rug is a true labour of love and guaranteed to last forever.
5. How do you hope people feel when they use or display items from Moroccan White in their homes?
I hope they feel uplifted, and enchanted and blessed as I truly believe that all handmade items possess a wonderful energy.
6. What have been some highlights or proud moments since launching the brand?
Launching our market stall at Portobello was a wonderful moment from which Moroccan White has been able to learn and grow, as we meet amazing clients from all walks of life and from all continents of the earth. Secondly, after many years of trying and failing, the success of our stand at Top Drawer trade show in January 2025 which has enabled us to connect with so many beautiful homeware boutiques around the U.K. and their enterprising owners.
7. What’s next for Moroccan White – any exciting plans or new launches on the horizon?
To enlarge our wonderful boutique warehouse showroom in Fulham to enable us to serve all our customers and to forge ahead and develop our first physical presence on the Highstreet (or maybe in a little side road tucked behind the Highstreet!).
Bringing Moroccan White into one of our networking lunches was a true highlight. Their timeless, hand-crafted pieces paired so beautifully with Twizzell England’s linens, adding depth, texture, and a sense of cultural richness to the table.
At Truffles and Ruffles, our joy lies in creating spaces where people connect - and tablescapes like this one remind us just how powerful collaboration can be. A meeting of Moroccan heritage and English elegance, all around one table.
With love,
Anna xxx
