A Maximalist Tablescape Masterpiece
In our collaboration with Charlie Bordewich Antiques, we fully embraced a "more is more" design philosophy, creating a lavish, layered tablescape that was as much a celebration of artistry as it was a functional dining setting. The foundation of this maximalist design was a stunning floral tablecloth and matching napkins, crafted from vintage Sanderson duvet covers, bringing a sense of nostalgia and luxury to the table. These soft, romantic florals set the tone for a captivating mix of old-world charm and vibrant modern elements.
The table was adorned with an array of carefully curated antique treasures from Charlie Bordewich's collection. Silver candelabras and intricate cutlery anchored the table in timeless elegance, while delicate crystal glassware shimmered in the candlelight, adding a touch of refined grandeur. Each piece on the table told its own story, from the ornate serving dishes to the vintage plates that framed the beautifully arranged salads.
At the heart of the tablescape were the striking floral arrangements, which burst with life and vibrancy. Muscari, daffodils, and anemones in rich jewel tones complemented the antique décor, infusing the setting with fresh energy and drawing the eye across the table. These flowers, with their varied textures and hues, perfectly contrasted the delicate glassware and silverware, creating a harmonious balance between boldness and sophistication.
Suspended above the table, honeycomb paper lanterns in deep navy and bright orange added a playful twist, bringing the whole scene to life and ensuring that every angle of the room was filled with visual delight. This unexpected addition lent a modern, whimsical flair to an otherwise traditional setting, reinforcing the idea that maximalism is about pushing creative boundaries.
The vintage Sanderson fabrics, combined with the antique pieces and contemporary flourishes, created a one-of-a-kind tablescape that felt both timeless and innovative. It was a visual feast, where every detail—from the marbled salad plates to the unique glassware and linens—contributed to an unforgettable dining experience.
This collaboration with Charlie Bordewich Antiques truly exemplifies our belief that when it comes to tablescapes, more is more, and the photos from this event speak for themselves. The intricate layering, rich colors, and blending of eras made this design not just a tablescape, but a work of art.
