A Playful Twist on Tradition: Our Tablescape Collaboration with Turnbull & Hooch
Wow, what a week! Amidst all the excitement of hosting workshops and exploring the Cotswolds, we’re thrilled to share the highlights from our latest tablescape collaboration with the incredible Sarah from Turnbull & Hooch (@turnbullandhooch).
This tablescape was a true celebration of playful design and versatility, featuring pieces that added both fun and elegance to our autumn lunch. Collaborating with Sarah was an absolute joy, and her carefully curated items helped us create a dining experience that was both visually stunning and effortlessly functional.
A Feast for the Eyes and the Palate
We began by setting the stage with the most adorable enamel mini pink trays for starters, which were both whimsical and chic. These trays created the perfect canvas for the vibrant, beautifully crafted dishes by Sophie from Edible Food Design (@edible_food_design), allowing the food to truly take centre stage. For dessert, we switched things up with teal trays, keeping the playful theme going while adding a fresh pop of colour. The teal trays worked harmoniously with the delicious dessert, making the final course just as visually enticing as it was delicious.
But the trays were just the beginning. We paired these with scalloped placemats that added a layer of sophisticated detail to the table. The pineapple name card holders were a playful touch, drawing smiles from our guests, while the bobble glasses brought a touch of texture and charm to each place setting.
One of our favourite elements of this tablescape was the ingenious oil burners, which added an unexpected yet delightful detail. Not only did they bring a sense of warmth to the table, but they also enhanced the ambiance, making the whole experience feel cosy and inviting.
The Perfect Backdrop: Blithfield & William Morris Fabrics
No tablescape is complete without the perfect linens, and for this event, we dressed the table in a stunning Blithfield fabric that served as a soft, elegant base for all the vibrant elements. The napkins, made from William Morris fabric, added a layer of heritage and timeless beauty to the setting. The combination of these two iconic textile brands created a harmonious contrast—grounded in tradition yet fresh and modern in execution.
A Sweet Finish
Of course, no lunch is complete without a little something sweet to end on, and Barbara from Bad Ass Cakes (@badasscakes) did not disappoint. Her light, fluffy red velvet cake was the perfect final note to this three-course feast. Its vibrant colour added a final splash of fun to the table, and every bite was just as delightful as it looked.
A Special Thanks
We couldn’t have brought this vision to life without the wonderful collaboration of Sarah and Julia from Turnbull & Hooch. Their versatile pieces made it so easy to design a table that was both fun and functional. A huge thank you to Sophie from Edible Food Design for the incredible food, which tied everything together so beautifully. And of course, a special thanks to Lou from @lsouza_photography for capturing all the magic of the day.
Finally, thank you to our lovely guests who made the lunch so special with their presence and vibrant conversation. It’s always such a treat to connect with creative minds around a beautifully set table.
